A modern, seamlessly linked domain on a sunny Tyrolean plateau, and one of Austria's best for families. Serfaus is said to be the best resort in the world for young kids: a free underground hover-train (the Dorfbahn) keeps the village car-free and family-safe. Up top (2817m) it's open, high-altitude skiing; lower down, tree-lined runs near the villages give some cover. The valley sits in a drier part of Tyrol, so don't assume deep powder. Landeck-Zams train station is a short bus ride away. Over 25 modern lifts make getting around easy with no compulsory drags anywhere, and you can check conditions through good-quality video webcams, though many are seasonal.
