Two Swiss villages joined by the Urdenbahn gondola into one big, sunny area of groomed skiing, good for families and mixed-ability groups who want variety without anything scary. Arosa is the higher village, at 1,775m, at the end of a gloriously scenic railway from Chur, so it's a proper car-free option. Lenzerheide is lower, more wooded and a regular World Cup race venue, which is where you'll find the trees for stormy days; Arosa's slopes are more open. There are almost 50 lifts with the highest at 2854m, it's easy to ski between the two bases, and snow is dependable for this part of Switzerland. Zurich is about two hours away. Webcams are high-res with 360-degree panoramas, so you can check what the slopes are really like right now.
